What Are the Different Floor Scrubber Brush Types?

Every flooring surface has unique qualities. Whereas some harder floor surfaces are highly resistant to abrasion, others require a gentle touch. If you want to clean your floor without shortening its useful life, it’s vital that you choose the right brush head.

Intelligent Design Manufacturing (IDM) proudly offers many floor scrubber brush types to help support the needs of a wide range of clients. We offer more than 20 different brush and pad options for your floor scrubbing machine. Find out more about our available options.

THE FLOOR SCRUBBER BRUSH TYPES TO KNOW

This overview will highlight some of our most popular types of brushes that businesses and cleaning crews rely on to maintain pristine floor surfaces.

GENERAL SCRUBBING BRUSHES

These all-purpose brushes are great for cleaning a wide range of floors, including those made from the following materials:

  • LVT
  • Ceramic Tile
  • Polished concrete
  • VCT
  • Epoxy

Each IDM machine includes a set of standard scrubbing brushes as part of your purchase. With proper maintenance, these brushes can provide countless hours of use.

GRITTED BRUSHES

Do you need something a little more aggressive to complete the cleaning job? IDM has you covered with our gritted brushes. Each brush features a different level of grit — the higher the grit, the finer the brush, and vice versa.

Grit brushes are primarily used for cleaning bare concrete. Due to their design, they can tackle heavily soiled floors, harsh residue and dirt, and uneven surfaces.

IDM currently offers two types of gritted brushes: green and red. These brushes are available for several of our most popular machines, including the X-Scrub Pro and our ride-on floor scrubber series.

DAILY CLEANING PADS

Daily cleaning pads are designed for light traffic and general upkeep. If your office space has minimal foot traffic and little to no visible dirt, daily cleaning pads are usually the right option. These pads are highly absorbent, which makes them useful for reducing drying time.

Our cleaning pads are our most effective attachment for our top-of-the-line selection of floor scrubbers. Like every IDM product, our pads are designed and built to deliver optimal value to our clients with every use.

NYLON BRUSHES

Nylon brushes offer a moderate amount of abrasiveness. They’re best suited for abrasion-resistant flooring materials like ceramic tile. You can use our nylon brushes to clean grout lines and eliminate tough, set-in debris.

Nylon brushes are available for our entire line of floor scrubbers, including:

  • X-Scrub Mini
  • X-Scrub Pro
  • X-Scrub Max 20
  • All three X-Scrub Rider models

Due to their versatility, our nylon brushes can be used in industrial settings, office spaces, restaurants, and many other environments. If you need to clean hard floors and dig deep in your grout lines, you need nylon brushes in your lineup.

AGGRESSIVE RESTORATION BRUSHES

The X-Scrub Pro is a powerful floor scrubbing machine. It’s only fitting that it can accommodate several floor scrubber brush types, including aggressive restoration brushes. As the name suggests, these brushes are designed to prepare floors for total restoration.

You can use the X-Scrub Pro’s aggressive heads to remove old finishes or resurface concrete. Once you’re done, your floors will be ready for a fresh coat of epoxy.

If you’ve got your sights set on a different flooring option, you can also use the X-Scrub Pro’s restoration brushes to remove thin-set residue or other debris for flawless installation.

SOFT BRUSHES FOR FINISHED FLOORS

While most business flooring materials are built with durability in mind, some higher-end options may not be as abrasion resistant. We can help with that. IDM offers soft brushes for finished types of floors. These brushes still provide exceptional cleaning power but are much gentler than our nylon or gritted options.

Our soft brushes are available for select IDM models, including the X-Scrub Pro. If you need a non-abrasive brush for your facility, contact our team to find out which machine will best suit your needs and learn more about what it can do.
